The inaugural match of T20cricket tournament organized by the teammates of Nayeem Qadir Bhat who was killed in April this year during the protests against alleged molestation of a girl by an army man in Handwara was Sunday played in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The father of Nayeem, Ghulam Qadir Bhat inaugurated the tournament at Handwara.According to KNS correspondent, the inaugural match was played between Murtza warriors Srinagar versus Kashmir Gym Khana.Batting first, Murtaza warriors Srinagar scored 190 runs in allotted 20 overs. The team lost their five wickets while the Gym Khana failed to chase the total and were all-out at 180 runs in 19 overs.Murtaza Warriors won the match while Mehjoor Ahmad of Murtaza warriors was awarded man of the match for his tremendous performance. He scored 75 runs in 35 balls.The tournament was organized in the memory of all-rounder talented player of the Valley.Star Eleven cricket club Handwara, for which Nayeem played from past several years organized T20 cricket tournament ‘Shaheed Nayeem Memorial Gold Cup cricket Championship 2016’ without any registration fee the participation of the teams.All dignitaries of JKCA, Ex cricketers from across the valley were present on the occasion.
