Ganga cleaning work bogged down by delay in setting up STPs

New Delhi, May 29 (UNI) Sewage treatment plants (STPs) could not be constructed at stipulated places like Badrinath and Karanprayag even after seven years of their sanctioning due to inordinate delay caused by adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, dispute over lands among others, according to a parliamentary committee report.

The committee to look into inordinate delays in construction of Sewage treatment plants across the country said that without assessing the ground realities in acquiring the land for setting up of sewerage projects , sanctions and approvals were given and funds allocated and allowed to lapse.

New Delhi, April 23 (UNI) A Special Court in Delhi on Tuesday extended judicial custody of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha till May 7 in the Delhi Excise Policy case.
They were arrested by the Enforcement Directorate under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
