FGB, one of the leading banks in the UAE, participated at the first National Service Career Fair, organised by the General Headquarters of the UAE Armed Forces on 23-25 May 2016 at Zayed Military City in Abu Dhabi. FGB took part at this event in line with its commitment to support National Service recruits to develop careers in banking and financial services.

As part of its ongoing efforts to support the country’s Emiratisation strategy and the continued growth of the UAE’s economy, FGB showcased career opportunities for Emiratis at the National Service career fair, welcoming national service recruits to its stand at the exhibition.

Noora Al Reyasi, Head of Learning & Development at FGB, said: “We are grateful to the General Headquarters of the UAE Armed Forces for organising this career fair, which has been launched in response to the many initiatives that provide career opportunities and scholarships for those who are undertaking or have completed national service in the UAE. Emiratis undertaking national service are our pride. We all have a responsibility to support national service graduates for their commitment to the nation through learning and career opportunities that match their capabilities and aspirations for their careers.”

Through its participation in various career fairs, FGB is working to increase the number of Emiratis employed in the banking and financial sector, providing them with career opportunities within a professional environment which helps them to progress and develop their skills. FGB currently has over 350 Emirati employees, including a number of national service graduates.

FGB recently participated in “Careers UAE 2016”, and currently offers a wide range of programmes to attract and retain UAE nationals. The bank’s Nujoom programme is an accelerated 18-month scheme which is designed to attract talented graduates into the banking sector.

For current undergraduate students, the bank offers internship opportunities and a summer training programme, which places participants in various departments within the bank. FGB also offers a more advanced, Specialist Bankers Programme, which is designed for Emirati students studying overseas with a minimum of one year of professional experience and a Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree, who want to develop a career in the financial services sector.
