Kuwait: Kuwait handed over 47 Iranian prisoners to Tehran, Ministry of interior said.
“The hand over is in compliance with a joint agreement to exchange convicts between Kuwait and Iran,” said Assistant Undersecretary for reformation affairs Major-General Khalid Al-Dayeen.
Kuwaiti and Iranian officials representing the ministries of Interior and Justice in both countries attended the hand-over of the inmates who were flown to Tehran, reported local Arabic daily Al-Qabas.
Maj. Gen. Khalid Al-Dayeen stressed Kuwait’s commitment to human rights covenants and joint agreements.
He pointed out that Kuwait signed a number of prisoner exchange agreements while other deals are still under study.
