The Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival, which is in its seventh year, saw a panel discussion on 'Freedom of Expression and Censorship in Indian Cinema' on Thursday. The panelists included notable personalities like actor-director
Nandita Das, filmmaker Onir, editor-screenwriter and filmmaker Apurva Asrani and director of the festival, Sridhar Rangayan.
While elaborating on their personal experiences with the censor board and the 'cuts' each one had to make with their movies,
Onir spoke about his first script, which is finally being made into a movie. Onir said, 'This was my first script which I'd written in 2000. At the time, I didn't have the bandwidth to actually turn it into a movie. There was some amount of hesitation in terms making it. But I'm a lot more certain about it now and it will be out soon.'
