99.84% in Andhra Pradesh, 99.83% in Telengana clear Class X exam
HYDERABAD: Students of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the Chennai region performed exceedingly well in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class X exam, as the pass percentage stood at a high 99.84 percent and 99.83 percent respectively. The two states were only behind Puducherry that recorded a pass percentage of 99.78 percent.
The Chennai region comprises six states and three union territories.
Out of 18,181 students who appeared from Telangana, 31 students failed to clear the exam. Similarly in AP, out of 15,782 students, 26 students failed to pass.
While in Telangana boys outshone girls by registering a pass rate of 99.84% as against the 99.81% recorded by the latter, in AP, girls did better by registering a pass rate of 99.86% as compared to boys with 99.82% pass rate.
Nearly all the schools in Hyderabad had a pass percentage of 100%. A whopping 1,68,541 students across the country - 85,316 boys and 83,225 girls scored a perfect 10 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score. Some of the city schools that had maximum number of students with a perfect 10 CGPA are -- Kennedy High, the global school (82), Meridian School (69), Silver Oaks (63), Delhi Public School (58), Jubilee Hills Public School (46), P Obul Reddy Public School (43), Sultan-Ul-Uloom Public School (36), Chirec Public School (38) among many others.
Officials from several schools termed this year's results better than 2015. "The results this year have been over-whelming as even students from economically backward sections have performed well. Students who were given scholarships by our school have scored eight and above CGPA," said Anjali Razdhan, principal of P Obul Reddy Public School.
