Class X student fractures leg in suicide attempt in Valsad district

Surat: A 16-year-old class X student attempted suicide by jumping off the third floor of his school building in Valsad district on Saturday. The student was upset as he had failed in two subjects in his class X examinations, results of which were declared a couple of days ago.
There was panic in Avabai School, one of the oldest schools in Valsad, after the incident.Soon a crowd gathered at the spot since there were many teachers and students already on the school campus as it was the day when the HSC general stream results had been declared. The student was immediately rushed to a hospital. He had fractured his right leg which was operated upon by the doctors.
The student had come to submit forms for re-examination in the subjects in which he had failed to the school. He was upset ever since his result was announced and jumped from the third floor of the building out of sheer desperation.
"We have registered the statement of the boy's father. No further action has been taken in the case," police said.
