Mercury dips, Ahmedabad records 40.8 degree celsius

Gujarat got some respite from heat as mercury dipped slightly on Saturday. As many as 14 towns recorded maximum temperatures below 40 degree celsius on Saturday. According to Meteorological Centre-Ahmedabad, the city is likely to witness thunderclouds late on Sunday, though there is little chance of any rainfall.

Surendranagar town of Saurashtra was hottest in the state with 41.5 degree celsius maximum temperature on Saturday.

The sudden relief from heat has been attributed to cloudy weather across the state, which is likely to continue for another two to three days.

On Saturday, the city recorded 40.8 degree celsius maximum temperature. It was a bit humid during the day, but strong winds prevailed during late evening, and some parts of the city also witnessed light dust storms.
The state capital, Gandhinagar, taken to be a green city, recorded maximum temperature at 40.5 degree celsius on Saturday.
According to Meteorological Centre-Ahmedabad, the city is likely to witness thunderclouds late on Sunday, though there is little chance of any rainfall.
