As many as 301 cadets, including three from friendly foreign countries, passed out from the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, after completing courses on Saturday.
The foreign cadets included two from Tanzania and one from the Maldives. They completed their Naval Orientation Courses (NOC). This year the passed-out cadets included 25 women from the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard. Of the 298 Indian cadets, 234 are from the Indian Navy and 64 are from the Indian Coast Guard.
Chief of the Army Staff General Dalbir Singh was the chief guest. After reviewing the parade, he awarded medals to eight meritorious cadets.
The graduating cadets acquired their B.Tech. degree in one of three streams – Applied Electronics and Communication Engineering (AEC), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) or Mechanical Engineering (ME) – under the aegis of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Addressing the cadets after reviewing the parade, Gen. Singh advised them to prepare themselves for the challenges of tomorrow.
He emphasised that professionalism, integrity and attitude should form the cornerstones on which their military careers are to be built. INA Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor Rear Admiral M.D. Suresh and Principal Rear Admiral K.S. Venugopal were present on the occasion.
Award winners
The President’s Gold Medal for the Indian Naval Academy B.Tech. course was awarded to Squadron Cadet Captain Keval Krishan and the Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medal for the Naval Orientation (Extended) course was awarded to Cadet Sidharth Gupta.
The Chief of the Naval Staff Gold Medal for the NOC (Regular) was awarded to Cadet Rukshar Baby, who was also awarded the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (South) Gold Medal for being adjudged the best woman trainee of the course.
The others who got the silver and bronze medals are Awati Arora, Vinayak Sureshkumar, Sarath Kumar, and Srinivas Kumar Thakur.
On completion of the parade, the ‘Shipping of Stripes’ ceremony was conducted to complete the formalities of their induction to the respective forces.
