While the Delhi government schools outperformed private schools in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class-XII results this year, the reverse seems to be the case with Class-X examination, the results of which were declared on Saturday.
According to the data released by CBSE, private schools in the Capital have outperformed their government counterparts with a difference of more than six per cent in pass percentage.
While the pass percentage of private schools this year is 95.43, for government schools it is 89.13.
For CBSE Class-XII results, Delhi government schools had a pass percentage of 88.98 compared to 86.67 in private schools.
In terms of comparison with overall institutions, Central government-run schools like Jawahar Navodya Vidyalayas (JNVs) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) managed to script a better record in the Class-X results here with a pass percentage of 100 and 99.52, respectively.
The overall performance of both government and private schools across the country declined as compared to the previous year.
While the pass percentage in government schools across the country dropped from 86.11 in 2015 to 83.85 this year, the pass percentage in private schools witnessed a steep decline of nine percentage points, from 41.22 in 2015 to 32.57 per cent this year.
