Cristiano Ronaldo says he knew he would score the decisive penalty that clinched an 11th European Cup for Real Madrid.
The Portuguese forward slotted home the spot-kick that sank city rivals Atletico in Milan to seal victory after strikes from Sergio Ramos and Yannick Carrasco had seen the match end in a draw after 120 minutes.
And he insisted that he anticipated the winning goal, which came after Juanfran’s crucial miss. "I had a vision," he said. "I knew that I would score the winning goal... I told [Zinedine Zidane] that and to let me take the fifth and that's how it turned out.
"The penalties are always a lottery. You never know what’s going to happen.
"We showed that our team has more experience and we showed that we scored all the penalties, so it was unbelievable. Fantastic night."
'Amazing feeling'
Fellow forward Gareth Bale, who cramped up during extra-time, joked that he was struggling to feel anything after a gruelling match. He told BT Sport: "I can't feel a lot, to be honest, I'm cramping up. But what an amazing feeling.
"It was difficult in extra time, a lot of people getting cramp, but we showed the resilience, we showed what we're made of and we won the eleventh...
"It's an amazing feeling, I can't describe how it feels. The boys gave everything, the club, the fans, they've been amazing on this journey, and we deserve it."
