A 35-year-old woman from Faridkot died in hospital on Saturday, a day after being set ablaze by a man she snubbed him for harassing her.

FARIDKOT: A 35-year-old woman from Faridkot died in hospital on Saturday, a day after being set ablaze by a man she snubbed him for harassing her. In her dying declaration, the victim, Baljit Kaur alleged that Babbu Singh, a resident of Kammeana Gate area, Faridkot, had been harassing her for the past few days. He tried to stop her on Friday evening.
But when she refused, Babbu slapped her, doused her with kerosene and set her ablaze. She was rushed him to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital with 80% burns.
Sources said the victim was married but had strained relations with her husband and was staying alone. Faridkot SSP Sukhminder Singh said, "On Friday evening, a case under attempt to murder charges was registered against Babbu. After her death, murder charges have been added. A judicial magistrate was requested to record her statement in the hospital. Efforts are on to arrest him." tnn
