Demanding immediate action against the guilty jail staff responsible for the custodial death of seven TADA prisoners of the Pilibhit district jail in 1994, SAD’s Anandpur Sahib MP Prem Singh Chandumajra today threatened to approach the Supreme Court for a CBI probe.
Speaking to reporters here, he said Samajwadi Party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav had assured him in the Lok Sabha to look into the matter.
“If no action is taken soon, the Delhi Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee along with the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee would appeal to the Supreme Court to order a CBI probe,” Chandumajra said.
He said a delegation of SAD would be meeting Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik on Sunday with a memorandum listing three demands, including the Pilibhit custodial deaths.
The second demand is about the Uttarakhand Government taking over land belonging to the historic Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib of Haridwar. He also charged the Akhilesh Yadav government with lodging false cases against members of the Sikh community in Saharanpur two years ago during a clash over the encroachment of gurdwara property.
Explaining the future plans of SAD in Uttar Pradesh, Chandumajra said that the party would contest the 2017 elections. The first choice was a seat-sharing arrangement with the BJP. “However, if it does not work out, the party is open to forming alliances with parties which will give space to the issues which we stand for,” said Chandumajra.
