Wockhardt Hospital, Nagpur planning city’s first liver transplant centre

Nagpur: The Wockhardt Hospital in Nagpur is planning a liver transplant center in the city in near future. It will be city’s first such center.
At present there are no qualified liver transplant surgeons in city Wockhardt is also planning to bring surgeons from its Mumbai hospital as and when required.
Speaking to TOI, the center head of Wockhardt, K Sujatha said that the hospital has the required infrastructure and operation theater facilities to conduct the transplants.“We would be bringing in liver transplant surgeons from our hospital at Mumbai. But the hospital is definitely planning to start liver transplants in the city soon,” she said.
Sujatha said that at present most patients go for liver transplant either to Chennai, Hyderabad or Mumbai. Once Wockhardt starts the transplant facility, these patients can hope for state of art facilities in the city itself.
