When we are in power, cops will lick my boots: BSP MLA in viral video
BIJNOR: In a video of a public meeting that appears to have gone viral, BSP’s Barhapur MLA Mohammed Ghazi is allegedly seen telling voters that when the BSP comes to power, he will make cops "lick my boots”. The MLA allegedly also called up Dharmendra Singh, station officer at Sherkot police station and abused him. A case was registered against the MLA late on Friday night.
On Saturday, police raided likely locations in search of him but he could not be arrested. Eight of his supporters have been detained for questioning.
The MLA, in a meeting last week, had reportedly abused station officer Dharmendra Singh at Sherkot police station and said that BSP would be in power soon and cops like Singh would “kneel” before the people.
Bijnor superintendent of police (SP) Umesh Srivastav said, “The MLA has abused and threatened a police officer. He said the SO would kneel before him, touch his feet and lick his boots when the MLA’s party is in power. After the threat, we took expert legal advice and filed a case. We are taking this matter seriously.”
The Sherkot SO told TOI, “Ten days ago the MLA abused me over the phone and threatened to get me transferred. That is why I chose to file a case against him.”
After the case was registered, Ghazi issued a statement saying, “The Sherkot SO and Amit Kumar, the son of Samajwadi Party leader Moolchand Chauhan, have been running a betting racket. They are also running a land grab scam. I have even complained to senior police officers against the SO.”
UP state minister Moolchand Chauhan denied Ghazi’s allegations. “The allegations are completely false. There is no such illegal activity taking place in my constituency. Mohammed Ghazi is levelling false charges against me. This is a conspiracy,” he said.
