Man fatally struck by car in Morley, West Yorkshire

A man has died from serious head injuries after being hit by a car in West Yorkshire.

The crash happened on the A653 Dewsbury Road in Morley at 04:20 BST.

Police said a 24-year-old Bradford man was in the carriageway when he was hit by car travelling towards Leeds. He died at Leeds General Infirmary.

The road was closed while investigation work was carried out and reopened shortly after 08:00.

Det Insp Mark Atkinson said: "An investigation is ongoing today into the circumstances of this collision and we would like to speak to anyone who can assist with enquiries.

" We would particularly like to speak to anyone who may have seen the man or the car in the moments before the collision took place."
