Aliyev: Baku to attract financial resources for North-South corridor

Baku, May 28, IRNA – Azeri President Ilham Aliyev announced that his country is ready to attract financial resources to complete the North-South Transport Corridor.

Addressing a ceremony to mark the 98th anniversary of the Republic Day of Azerbaijan, Aliyev said the Corridor is among important transport routes.

Towards completion of that Corridor, the country is to take effective steps, said Aliyev.

To reach Iran border by railroad from Azerbaijan is on the agenda, the Azeri president stressed while referring to that project as an important move to completing North-South corridor.

North–South Transport Corridor is a sea, rail, and road route for exchange of goods between India, Russia, Iran, Europe and Central Asia.

The aim of the Corridor is to increase trade connections between major cities including Mumbai, Moscow, Tehran, Baku, Bandar Abbas, Astrakhan, Bandar Anzali, etc.

Bandar Abbas and Bandar Anzali are two Iranian port cities in north and south of the country.
