Kannur: Alleging that the BJP is trying to diminish the sheen of the historic win of the LDF in the assembly election, the leaders of the front said they would organize public gatherings in different parts of the district next week.
As the first stage rallies were taken out in different parts of the district on Friday evening while public meetings to explain the conspiracy against the Left would be organized from Sunday, said LDF district convener K P Sahadevan, here on Friday.

"There were widespread incidents of attacks against the Left activists making it difficult for the CPM to function in the BJP-RSS strongholds, whereas in the Left strongholds, the BJP workers sneak in during night and unleash attack," he said.
Listing the cases of attack against the CPM and other LDF workers, Sahadevan said 65 LDF workers sought treatment in various hospitals following attack, apart from the murder of party worker C V Ravindran near Pinarayi. It was after he was run over by a vehicle, which was part of the BJP campaign, Ravindran was killed, said the CPM leader. Earlier it was said that he had come under bomb attack too, an allegation denied by the police.
CPM district secretary P Jayarajan, who also attended the press conference along with other LDF leaders, said despite unleashing violence in the district BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan tried to put the blame on the CPM after visiting the district.
"There is a conspiracy going on to create the impression that there is no safety and security in the state after the LDF came to power, and these violent incidents in the district are part of that," said Jayarajan.

Congress leader K Sudhakaran is also part of the conspiracy and the arrest of a BJP worker who was held from near the house of the Congress leader when he was apparently planning an attack was part of this, he alleged.
"Even in the Congress there are rumours about this incident and it is believed that the conspiracy was hatched with Sudhakaran's knowledge," added Jayarajan.
The LDF leaders said the ministers from the district would be accorded a welcome on June 4. The LDF MLAs as well as the MLA from Mahe, V Ramachandran would be felicitated in the function.
