'Complete drive before rain arrives'
Kozhikode: A review meeting of the health inspectors in the corporation convened by corporation health officer M M Vijayan directed the officials to ensure that the pre-monsoon cleaning drives are completed before the onset of the rains.
The health officer also asked the health staff to ensure that councillors submit the drainage connectivity plan of their respective areas to facilitate the cleaning of drains.

The funds for the pre-monsoon cleaning, with a total estimate of Rs 69 lakh, would be allotted to each ward on the basis of the estimate along with drainage connectivity plan.
The civic body has also decided to take up the drainages works on the roads owned by public works department and national highway authority of India, though it does not fall under their purview.
The meeting also decided to encourage waste disposal at the source point using methods such as pipe compost, vermicompost, bio-bin, bio gas or aerobic bin. Vijayan said the pre-monsoon cleaning has already started in many wards.
