OUT! Bravo was expected to get a breakthrough, and he does exactly that! Ojha looks to clear the midwicket boundary, but doesn’t get enough power on the shot to clear the rope. Jadeja runs to his right, and collects the catch safely! Departs for 10; SRH 117/6 after 15.5

OUT! Second wicket for Kaushik, as Warner is fast running out of support at the other end! Cutting gets a thick outside edge off the third ball of the over while looking to defend, getting caught behind for 8, with SRH losing their fifth wicket with 84 on board! 

Replays however, show otherwise, with no apparent connection between bat and ball. There however, was a thick sound coming in.

After 12 overs,Hyderabad 82/4 ( David Warner (C) 50 , Ben Cutting 7)

Bravo, Gujarat’s first choice death-specialist, is introduced in the 10th over, and concedes four singles off it. 

Hooda, the new batsman at the crease, is nearly stumped off Kaushik’s bowling at the start of the following over. Was looking for a big shot, but missed the ball completely, with Karthik whipping the bails off immediately. FOUR! Warner ends the 11th over with a boundary towards fine third-man, bringing up his eighth half-century of the ongoing tournament in 35 balls! 

Bravo traps Hooda lbw off the first ball of his second over, foxing him with a slower one, before greeting new batsman Ben Cutting with a similar delivery. The latter gets off the mark with a boundary towards midwicket off the second ball that he faces. SRH need 81 to win from 48 balls.

OUT! Bravo strikes with his first ball of his second over! Full slower along middle, Hooda gets rapped on the front pad while playing across the line! Departs for 4; SRH 75/4

FIFTY for Warner in 35 balls! Guides the final ball of the 11th over down towards third man to get to the mark! The SRH skipper continues his glorious form with the bat, and hammers his eighth fifty of the ongoing IPL!

After 9 overs,Hyderabad 62/3 ( David Warner (C) 41 , Deepak Hooda 0)

Kaushik is introduced in the first over after powerplay, with the spinners barely giving anything away at this stage. The chinaman concedes just three off his first, with the pressure starting to mount on Hyderabad now. 

BOOM! Warner takes off his helmet, and muscles the first ball fo the next over — bowled by Raina — for a straight hit! Moves into the 30s with the strike! FOUR AGAIN! Quicker one from Raina in the penultimate ball, and a misfield by Tye at cover gives Warner his sixth boundary of the innings. 

Kaushik gets rid of Yuvraj in the first ball of the following over. The southpaw, under pressure to boost the run-rate, looks to loft towards long-off, but doesn’t get enough distance, as Smith takes a simple catch near the boundary! SRH need 101 to win from 66 balls.

OUT! Yuvraj’s short stay at the crease comes to an end! Flighted delivery from Kaushik along off, and Yuvraj launches towards long-off. Doesn’t get enough power on the shot, resulting in an easy catch for Smith near the boundary! Departs for 8 off 13, as SRH lose their third wicket with 61 on board! Mounting pressure on Warner now.

After 6 overs,Hyderabad 46/2 ( David Warner (C) 27 , Yuvraj Singh 6)

Henriques targets the off-side again, hammering the first ball of the fourth over through point, with the ball beating the coming in from third man in the deep. Warner lofts a slower one from Kulkarni over mid-off in the penultimate ball. Dot to end the over. 

Smith comes in for the fifth over, and gets rid of Henriques off his first ball, with the latter getting caught at extra-cover! Yuvraj is the new batsman at the crease, and gets off the mark in style, lofting the first ball over extra-cover! Another four in the over, with Warner getting a thick outside-edge for the ball to run away towards the third man boundary! 10 runs and a wicket in the fifth over. 

It’s the captain himself who elects to bowl the final over of powerplay, and he starts off on an economical note, conceding just three off his first. SRH reach 46/2 at the end of powerplay, eight more than their opponents after having lost as many wickets. Need another 117 to win from 84 balls.

OUT! Smith strikes in his first delivery of the day, and that too with a bad delivery. Short and wide, Henriques looks to clear extra-cover, but instead finds Dwivedi at the position! Departs for 11 off six, as SRH lose their second wicket with 33 on board.

Warner and Dhawan walk out to bat, with the captain hammering a boundary off the first ball of the innings towards square-leg! Dhawan tries to get off the mark in the following over, but is run-out in the first ball thanks to a perfect direct hit by McCullum from cover, resulting in the southpaw’s dismissal for a duck. SRH lose their first wicket with just six on board. Warner goes for a clinical drive through the covers a couple of deliveries later. Henriques gets off the mark with a boundary, guiding the ball towards third-man, where the ball beats the fielder. Four to end the over, with the SRH skipper hammering the ball through through extra-cover, with the ball beating Finch in its race towards the boundary.

OUT! And Dhawan has to depart for a four-ball duck! Pushes the first ball of the second over towards cover, and scampers off for a quick single. Takes a brilliant direct hit by Brendon McCullum towards the non-striker’s end to get rid of him! SRH 6/1

Bhuvi to bowl the final over of the day. Has been economical so far in the innings. Concedes a wide off the second ball. Bravo gets a couple, thanks to some overthrows, off the third. BOWLED! Bravo is dismissed in a manner quite similar to that of Finch — getting an inside edge, with the ball ricocheting off his leg onto the stumps. The West Indian all-rounder departs for 20 off 10 balls, with Kulkarni walking out to bat. Gets three off his first ball, once again thanks to overthrows. Dot off the last ball, as Bhuvi finishes with economical figures of 2/27 at the end of the innings!

After 19 overs,Gujarat Lions 154/6 ( Ravindra Jadeja 17 , Dwayne Bravo 18)

Expensive start to Boult’s final over, with Bravo smashing consecutive boundaries towards the off-side with clean strikes. FOUR! Bravo gets an outside edge off a full-toss in the penultimate ball, but the ball beats the keeper towards the fine third-man boundary.

Finch moves to the 40s in the 16th over, uppercutting a short one from Boult towards third-man, before sending the final ball of the over straight down the ground for his sixth boundary of his innings. 

Bhuvi returns for the 17th over. Jadeja lofts the fifth ball, a length ball between middle and off, straight over the non-striker’s end for his first boundary of the day. Sran continues his misfortune at the field, letting the ball slip through his hands near backward square-leg for Finch to reach his half-century in 31 balls. Dismissed off the very next ball, with the ball ricocheting off his hip after getting an inside edge. Bravo walks out to the crease, and starts of with a boundary towards fine-leg!

OUT! Finch plays the ball onto his stumps barely a delivery after getting to his half-century! Full-toss from Cutting outside leg, Finch shuffles down the pitch, looking to hammer towards wide long-on. The ball ricochets off Finch’s hip onto his stumps, as the Aussie departs for 50 off 32, with GL losing their sixth with 134 on board.

After 15 overs,Gujarat Lions 109/5 ( Aaron Finch 35 , Ravindra Jadeja 6)

The downward spiral continues for Gujarat, with Smith getting caught by Dhawan at deep point off a short ball outside off from Cutting. The Lions have lost half of their side with less than 90 runs on board. 

Finch explodes in the next over, smashing two fours and a six — two of them coming off powerful pulls — with a total of 17 runs coming off the over. Brings up the 100 as well for the batting side. 

Some brilliant piece of fielding by Cutting in the following over saves five runs for the Sunrisers! Finch miscued his pull off Sran, but got enough distance to clear the ropes. Cutting leaps just inside the midwicket boundary, catches the ball and throws it back in mid-air. Finch ends the 15th over with a boundary nevertheless, squeezing the full-pitched final delivery past short third man to move to 35.

OUT! And the wickets are starting to tumble for Gujarat now! Back of length delivery outside off from Cutting, Smith cuts it towards deep cover-point, where Dhawan holds on to the simplest of chances. Departs for 1, as Gujarat collapse to 83/5.

Finch gets off the mark in his fourth delivery with a powerful pull towards backward square-leg, where there is a fielder stationed. Gujarat reach 67/3 at the halfway mark in their innings, and the scoring rate certainly needs to catch up if they are to keep their hopes of facing RCB in the final alive. 

Gets his first boundary in the following over by Sran with a similar shot, before lofting the second ball off the middle of the bat for the ball to disappear over long-off. Bipul nearly gets rid of Finch in the following over, with Finch miscuing the fourth ball, sending the ball high up in the air, before Sran drops a simple chance near short fine-leg. Bipul however, gets his wicket in the end, with McCullum miscuing the ball towards deep cover!

OUT! Bipul finally gets the wicket after the dropped chance earlier! And its the huge wicket of Brendon McCullum, who departs for 32. Baz comes down the track, looking for the big-hit, but ends up miscuing it towards Bhuvneshwar towards deep cover! Gujarat lose their fourth wicket with 81 on board.

Cutting is handed the ball for the seventh over, and a slow leg-cutter from his is muscled towards wide long-on by McCullum in the fourth ball, moving to 25 in the process. Henriques is introduced in the next over, and starts off by conceding a boundary, with Karthik coming down the track and smashing it through the covers, with six coming off the over.

Bipul in for the ninth over, and Karthik smashes the third delivery towards wide long-on on the backfoot! Comes down the track in the next ball, and smashes the ball just above Ben Cutting near the boundary for his first six of the innings. Miscommunication with Baz, along with a direct hit from Boult at third man, results in his run-out in the following delivery, with the Lions losing their third wicket with 63 on board.

Raina is trapped lbw off a Boult outswinger, departing for 1, as Gujarat get off to a terrible start after being put to bat. Wicketkeeper-batsman Karthik is the new man in, and he starts off with a crunching boundary through the covers! Sran introduced in the fifth over, and ‘Baz’ McCullum continues his offensive, hammering two boundaries in the over to lead the charge. 

Spin introduced in the final over of powerplay. Karthik shuffles to his right, and sweeps the second ball over short fine-leg for his second boundary of the day. Six runs off it, as Gujarat Lions struggle to 38/2 at the end of powerplay.

OUT! The Gujarat skipper departs early, as Boult gets his first wicket of the tournament in his second over. The southpaw tries to play the outswinger across the line, but ends up getting hit on the backpad bang in front of the off-stump. Departs for just one, as GL lose their 2nd wicket with 19 on board. In a rather unique move, Eklavya Dwivedi walks out to bat for Gujarat Lions alongside usual opener Brendon McCullum. The youngster, who scored 19 quick runs in the previous qualifier against RCB, hammers a four towards third man, before getting caught by Boult in the same region off a short one from Bhuvneshwar to depart for 5 at the end of the over. 

The next over is a fruitful one for the batting team, with Brendon McCullum smashing fellow Kiwi Trent Boult, who gets to bowl his first over of the tournament, for two boundaries to get started. Just three runs in Bhuvi’s second over of the day.

This is a second chance for the Lions to book a berth to the final of their very first IPL, while Sunrisers have vanquished KKR to reach a step closer the final. As RCB wait for the winner to join them in Bangalore, GL and SRH would be throwing their kitchen sink tonight.
