GANDHINAGAR: L K Advani, the BJP patriarch and former deputy Prime Minister, joined Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel on Friday to laud the NDA government led by PM Narendra Modi on its completion of two years in office. Advani and Anandiben were speaking at the Vikas Parva Sammelan organized on the Sabarmati riverfront.
However, Advani's extremely short tribute -lasting less than 10 minutes -to Modi's success focused on Gujarat and did not refer to any specific achievements of the Union government.
“I request all of you to invite people from other states to Ahmedabad so that they can see the development of the Sabarmati Riverfront,“ Advani told party workers at the event. “People should be shown the work carried out in the city by Narendrabhai and Anandiben Patel and their colleagues. Now Narendrabhai is trying to implement the good schemes in other states. I am hopeful that other states will follow the Gujarat model.“
Anandiben, on the other hand, hailed Modi's achievements as the PM and also spoke of the Gujarat government's push in implementing the central government's flagship projects. She appealed to BJP workers to reach out to the masses and make them aware of developmental ini tiatives taken by Modi as the PM. She criticized the Congress for claiming there was no visible development under Modi's prime ministership.
“The Congress has kamalo (jaundice) so everywhere they see yellow,“ she said. “But people respect Narendrabhai's efforts. That is why the Congress has vanished from 88% of the country.“ Anandiben blamed the Congress for the water crisis. “If the Congress had given permission to raise the Narmada dam height in 2008 and to close the dam gates in 2010, there would have been no water crisis today,“ she said. “In just 17 days, PM Modi gave the permission to raise the dam height. He has instructed other states concerned to complete all work by November 2016.“
