Indians in Congo safe after clashes, say diplomats
CHENNAI: The situation in Kinshasa, the capital of Congo, where Indians were injured and their shops were attacked in clashes after a Congolese national was lynched in Delhi, has returned to normal, diplomats in that country said.
“All Indians are safe and shops and establishments belonging to Indians are now open,“ JS Dangi, third secretary (political) at the Indian Embassy in the Congolese capital, told TOI on Friday .

Most of the nearly 10,000 Indian nationals in Congo are involved in business and trading. The envoy urged members of the media, both print and electronic, not to go overboard over the issue in the interest of safety of Indian nationals.
African diplomats had wanted to boycott the Africa Day celebrations in Delhi expressing anger at the lynching and it was only after a lot of diplomatic efforts that they agreed to attend the function organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
