Ghatlodia man accused of abetting suicide

Ahmedabad: A resident of Juna Vadaj, accused her son-in-law of abetting the suicide of her daughter in a complaint with Ghatlodia police. Her 21-year-old daughter had set herself on fire at her marital home on May 25.
According to Ghatlodia police, Lakshmi Koradiya, 47, a resident of Hanumanpura, Juna Vadaj, said her daughter Hetal, 21, had married Piyush Barot, a resident of Ishwarkakanagar, Ghatlodia.She set herself on fire at her residence at 7 am on May 25, and died during treatment at 2.30 pm.
"The complaint states that this was Hetal's second marriage. The first had ended when her husband learned of Hetal's affair with Piyush. She married Piyush, about two-and-a-half years ago, and brought her daughter from her first marriage, Janvi, along. She then had a fight with her in-laws and would shuttle between two houses, before Piyush convinced her to stay," said a Ghatlodia police official.
