Woman, her daughter die after power supply cable falls on house in Ballari

Ballari: A homemaker and her daughter died after a power supply cable fell on their new house at the Beedi Workers' Colony here Ballari on Thursday. Zahida, 35, and Fabiya, 9, died in this mishap. Another daughter had a lucky escape as she had gone out to buy some items for the home.
Police said a 11kV power line snapped and touched the iron beam of the roof.The mother and daughter tried to escape but failed. Gescom officers said, "The victim had drawn power illegally and this accident happened because of heir negligence."
Beedi Workers' Colony residents said, "Zahida had just moved into her new house. They didn't have the electricity connection. After the high-tension power cable fell on their house, they got a shock." Residents demanded suitable compensation and a probe into the accident.
Cowlbazar police registered an FIR with "accidental and electrical shock" as the cause of death.
