MARGAO: Former PWD minister
Churchill Alemao, in a statement to
TOI on Friday, asked if Benaulim Goa Vikas Party (GVP) MLA Caetano Silva
alias Caitu had forgotten the day when former chief minister and present Union defence minister
Manohar Parrikar rode pillion on Silva’s scooter during an inspection of Benaulim.
Alemao stated that his political nemesis (Silva), in collusion with the BJP government, had halted the ongoing development works of the
Sinquetim-Telaulim bridge in Salcete taluka.
In a telephonic conversation with
TOI from Vailankanni in Tamil Nadu, Alemao reacted to a
TOI report where Silva
alleged that “the state BJP government, led by Laxmikant Parsekar, was halting all the development works proposed and undertaken by me in the constituency of Benaulim as it is very interested in supporting my political rival, Churchill Alemao.”
Ironically, the GVP MLA is part of the ruling BJP-led government. But with state assembly polls approaching in 2017, the first-time legislator who trounced Alemao in 2012 polls, is now claiming to be ‘sidelined’ by the government authorities.
