Call to restore old pension scheme

NURPUR: The Himachal Pradesh All-Employees Federation has demanded restoration of the employees’ service pension scheme.

Nurpur, May 27

The Himachal Pradesh All-Employees Federation has demanded restoration of the employees’ service pension scheme. Sanjiv Guleria, vice-president of the federation, today alleged the Contributory New Pension Scheme, launched by the Central government in 2003, did not safeguard employees’s interests.

“The scheme has failed to benefit employees appointed after 2003 as they cannot withdraw pension amount before 10 years of service. An employee can withdraw only 25 per cent of the pension amount after 10 years and on retirement, he/she will get 40 per cent. The remaining 60 per cent will be given as monthly pension,” he said. — OC
