Two youths drown in Sangrur canal

Sangrur, May 27

Two youths from Mehlan village, about 10 km from here, today drowned in a canal near Gujran village. Jatinder Kumar (21) and Arshdeep Singh (16) were taking a bath in the canal when they were swept away by the strong currents.

Vijay Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO), Dirba, said a police party reached the spot and fished out the bodies with the help of villagers. He said the post-mortem examination would be conducted tomorrow at the Civil Hospital, Sunam. The police have initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC. — TNS
