2 ‘private agents’ of cop held for pocketing 50,000 bribe

As a police officer was handling the situation at the site of an explosion in Dombivli on Thursday night, two of his “private agents” were caught by the Thane ACB while accepting a bribe of Rs50,000. The duo — Rajkumar Bharti (34) and Ramprakash Tiwari (46) — were allegedly accepting the money to help a man in releasing his brother from jail.

KALYAN: As a police officer was handling the situation at the site of an explosion in Dombivli on Thursday night, two of his “private agents” were caught by the Thane ACB while accepting a bribe of Rs50,000. The duo — Rajkumar Bharti (34) and Ramprakash Tiwari (46) — were allegedly accepting the money to help a man in releasing his brother from jail.
ACB officials said that both the accused had approached the man, saying that they could help his brother be released from jail but they demanded Rs 2 lakh.

The ACB officials said they are also probing the role of the inspector who is posted at Mahatma Phule police station.
Sources in the ACB said that the man approached the ACB who laid a trap and nabbed the two men on Thursday. Police sources said that at this time, the police inspector was on duty at the explosion site.
