Work on prestigious ANS canal project would resume soon and on its completion, the canal will provide irrigation facility to over 5000 acres of un-irrigated agricultural land in district Rajouri.This was announced by the Minister for Education, Mr Naeem Akhtar while reviewing the follow-up of the decisions taken at the District Development Board (DDB) convened at Rajouri on 18th of this month.The foundation stone for construction of the ANS canal was laid by the then Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed last year.  Ans Canal Irrigation Project will provide irrigation facility to thousands of farmers in Dhar, Sakri, Peeri, Gokhrote, Sankari, Mera, Nagrota, Bindi, Ladote, Kala Kass, Lanka Bari, Dhangri and Baljarallan areas of district Rajouri.The meeting also reviewed the progress of work regarding improvement of Rajouri town which was also the commitment of the former Chief Minister.

The other developmental projects reviewed at the meeting include construction of Sports Complex at Rajouri, construction of Sports Stadium at Koteranka, construction of Sports Stadium at Kalakote and construction of Sports Stadium at Nowshera.Establishment of ITI at Kotranka, construction of Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel and construction of Mini Secretariat at Rajouri were discussed in the meeting.Mr Akhtar, who is also the chairman of the District Development Board (DDB) Rajouri, called for expediting the work on various development projects in the district.Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali, Minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Abdul Ghani Kohli, MLA Rajouri, Choudhary Qamar, MLC, Surinder Choudhary, MLC, Vibodh Gupta, Financial Commissioner Planning, B B Vyas, Principal Secretary PWD, Mr Rohit Kansal, Commissioner Secretary PHE, Mr Sanjeev Verma, Commissioner Secretary Technical Education, Hilal Parray, Director General, Jehangir Mir, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Shabir Ahmad, Chief Engineers and other officers of the district were present at the meeting.
