Football: Gracia signs as Rubin Kazan coach, Ramos makes Malaga move
Moscow, May 27, 2016 (AFP) -Russian club Rubin Kazan announced on Friday they have signed Javier Gracia as their new coach, the Spaniard replaced at Malaga by Juande Ramos.
"A Spaniard -- one of Spain's leading coaches Javi Gracia -- has become head coach for the first time in our history," the club's general director Ilgiz Fakhriyev told a press conference. He did not disclose the terms of the deal but said Gracia's bonuses would be performance related.
"I would like to start my work as soon as possible.
I'm looking forward to starting this job," Gracia, 46, told reporters in the team's home city of Kazan on the Volga River.
In an interview published on Wednesday on Malaga's website, Gracia said that he had accepted an "irresistible offer" from Rubin for the next four seasons, a day after the Spanish club had announced his departure.
Spanish sports daily Marca reported that Gracia would sign a four-year deal worth 12 million euros ($13.4 million).
Veteran coach Ramos, 61, will take over from Gracia at Malaga on a three-year deal.
"The reason for coming back is because I have some lasting memories, and the project is very interesting," said Ramos, who previously coached Malaga in 2003-4 before moving on to coach, among others, Sevilla, Tottenham and Real Madrid.

"The approach to the project is medium to long-term, and growing as much as the situation allows within the Professional Football League."
Ramos added: "Professionally speaking, I have talked to those in charge at the club, they want to achieve important goals, and within the short to medium-term, we will improve a great deal. And we want to compete with the greats. They are extremely ambitious within this club, and that is really the reason for coming to Malaga."
