A man has died in a blaze at the home of a family-of-five in Nottingham.

Firefighters were called to a bungalow in Toston Drive, Wollaton Park, at about 05:00 BST.

A 44-year-old man died at the scene. A woman was also treated at the house for minor burns while her three children escaped uninjured.

A fire service spokesman said the building was "severely damaged" and an investigation is now under way to establish the cause of the fire.

A cordon is in place and the road has been closed while inquiries are carried out.

David Stevenson, of Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, said the presence of smoke alarms had allowed the rest of the family to escape with minor injuries.
