#FlopShow: Big Budgets, Biggest Stars & The Best Locations Could Not Save These Movies

Bollywood is a multi-crore business and the idea behind creating films with massive budgets is to win the investment back through box office sales. So what happens when these huge, expensive movies flop? There's not enough whisky in the world for the director and producers at that point. Bollywood is no less risky than a stock exchange market. Sometimes a movie with the Khan (anyone of them) flops while a movie with no superstar runs for weeks. Here are a list of Bollywood movies that were super expensive and but couldn't mint any money at the box-office.

1. Saawariya was the debut film of Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. The movie also starred Salman Khan and Rani Mukherjee and it was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Sanjay is known to make larger than life movies and he is considered one of the biggest risk taker in the movie business. This particular risk, even with all its trappings of success, didn't pay off. Saawariya was made with a budget of 45 crores and the movie couldn't even earn half of its investment.

2. Besharam is another Ranbir Kapoor film which was made with a budget of about 85 crores. We still wonder what was so expensive in this movie? Ranbir wore the most horrendous clothes ever, so clearly, wardrobe didn't get the money. Anyway, the movie flopped as it could only generate 35 crores.

3. Did you know Blue had a budget of 129 crores? It starred Sanjay Dutt and Akshay Kumar, who for sure charge bombs for films. The Icing on the top was the song Chiggy-Wiggy by Kylie Minogue who charged 6.5 crores for her two minute appearance. But, the movie didn't impress people and they walked out of Blue with red. angry faces

4. Kambakkht Ishq tried so hard! The movie starred Kareena Kapoor Khan and Akshay Kumar and also had cameo roles by Hollywood actors like Brandon Routh, Denise Richards and even Slyvester Stallone. Having Hollywood actors mean a big hole in the producers pocket. Kambakkht Ishq was made with about 60 crores but could only earn half of the invested money.

5. Bombay Velvet was a dream project for Anurag Kashyap. It starred Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar and Anushka Sharma. No matter how good the cinematography of a movie is (and it really was), if the story isn't great, the movie will flop. After being putting in 125 crores, the movie could only earn 25. Yes! You read that right.

6. Shaandaar looked promising when the trailer released. Starring Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, the movie seemed to be a fairytale love story but it didn't match up to the imagination. The boring film made people doze off in the theatre. Made with 75 crores, the movie couldn't even earn back half of its investment.

7. Kites starring Hrithik Roshan, Bárbara Mori and Kangana Ranaut had a huge budget of 150 crores. With foreign locations and a gorgeous Mexican actress, the Rakesh Roshan movie promised a lot. However the tired, lifeless story couldn't save the sinking movie and it flopped at the box-office, big time.
