News organisations can enter in eight categories: brand, editorial, enduring excellence, news in education, public service, a special digital first category for break-through innovation, the Natasa Prize for printing plants and World Young Reader News Publisher of the Year.

A teacher will join this year's winners to receive the first ‘Global Media Literacy Teacher’ award for excellence in helping students examine all facets of news, including the role of journalism in a democracy.

Candidates are encouraged to obtain endorsement from a news publisher or media association endorsement and the winner will get support to attend the prize ceremony for all the awards on 1 December at the Newseum interactive museum in Washington, DC.

Supporters of this year's awards are the American Press Institute, NewseumED, CCI Europe and the Harnser Group. For more information, go to www.worldyoungreaderprize.org.
