Riyadh: An Arab bride clad in her white wedding dress has been prevented from entering Mecca Grand Mosque through the King Fahad Gate.
Two Holy Mosques Presidency gates officials kept the bride behind one of the doors and told her husband, who was with her, that his wife’s wedding dress was not suitable for the sanctity of Mecca Grand Mosque.
Mecca Grand Mosque director Mohammed Al-Bati gave directives to bring an abaya and a niqab for the wife to wear before she was allowed to enter Al-Haram Al-Makki Al-Sharif.
The bride said that she just wanted to visit Mecca Grand Mosque at the beginning of her married life with her husband.
Although she was wearing decent clothes and a white niqab, her presence did distract visitors and pilgrims.
