Nigella Lawson and Gogglebox hand Ten rare nightly win
Nigella Lawson’s final appearance on this season of Masterchef helped Channel Ten to a rare nightly win last night, pulling an audience share of 19.8%.
Its biggest programs were Masterchef, pulling 1.111m metro viewers at 7:30pm which was also the top show for the night, the following Masterclass episode which pulled 854,000, and Gogglebox, which pulled a steady 530,000 despite airing in the later 9:40pm timeslot.
Both were also the most popular programs across the advertising demographics (16-39, 18-49 and 25-54) according to OzTam overnight ratings.
After Masterchef, the highest-rating non-news programs were Seven’s Home and Away, grabbing 754,000 at 7pm, and Nine’s RBT, grabbing 645,000 at 7:30pm.
Seven News and Nine News were once again the most popular news programs, attracting 1.088m and 1.059m respectively at 6pm. At 6:30pm Seven News Today Tonight retained 1.011m while Nine News was watched by 983,000.
Nine treated Sydney and Brisbane viewers to a replay of 1994 Hugh Grant film Four Weddings and a Funeral in absence of Thursday night NRL, pulling in 135,000 viewers at 8.30pm, while The Footy Show in the other states managed 383,000.
In breakfast TV, Nine’s Today narrowly beat Seven’s Sunrise with 343,000 over 328,000.
Nine pulled the largest audience share after Ten with 17.8%, followed by Seven with 15.3% and the ABC with 12.6%.
A lot less metro viewers than last year. They thought celebrity “chefs”, would bring in more viewers. They might need a different “chef”. Heston Blumenthal brought in more viewers.
