JAMMU, May 26: Shahidi Yatra of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur will commence from Dera Baba in Reasi on May 31 for Gurdwara Shahdisthan Mahroli in New Delhi.
Addressing press conference here today, chairman of National Sikh Front Varinderjeet Singh said that the name of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur is inked in Golden words in the history of J&K state as this great warrior belonged to Jammu region.
On the eve of 300 years martyrdom of Baba Banda Bahadur, a Shaheedi Yatra will begin on May 31, 2016 from Dera Baba Banda Bahadur Reasi and will reach Shahidiasthan Mehroli Delhi on June 9.
Baba Banda Singh Bahadur’s 10th successor Baba Jatinder Singh Sodhi will lead the Yatra. This yatra will enter Jammu city on May 31 at 10 AM and it will be received near Amar Mahal by Sikh Sangat and other people of Jammu in the presence of Union Minister Dr Jatinder Singh, president of Gurudwara Prabhandak Board, Tarlochan Singh Wazir, president Jammu Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee, Jagjit Singh Jaga, general secretary, HS Raina and all the members of elected Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee and several Sikh and non- Sikh organizations.
He appealed all the people of Jammu to welcome this yatra at Jammu. After welcome at Amar Mahal, the Yatra will move to Rehari Chowk Gurudwara Kalgidhar to Indira Chowk – Gumat – Gurudwara Guru Nanak Dev Chand Nagar and resting there for some time, then it will move towards Bikram Chowk, Asia Chowk, Main Stop Gandhi Nagar, Satwari, Digiana, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Chowk Kunjwani, Samba to Hira Nagar – Rajbagh and they will take night halt at Kathua.
In this Shaheedi Yatra, the arms, ammunition and clothes of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur will be displayed and a picture presentation on his life will also be displayed.
After taking rest in Kathua on June 1, the yatra will move from Kathua to Pathankot – Gurdaspur to Qila Gurdas Nangal at which place Baba Ji fought for over 8 months in the jungles with the Mughals and were arrested there. Then they will move to Mukerian to Dasuya ,Tanda, Kishangod and will take rest at Jalandhar during night.
On June 2, they will move from Jalandhar to Phagwara, Ludhiana, Sahnewaal, Khanna, Sirhind as all of these were conquered by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.
