General category people warn Govt against reservation in promotion

POONCH, May 26:  Sending a tough message to the Government, general category people, including employees and civil society members, today threatened of an intensified struggle if reservation in promotion is not rooted out.
The warning was issued during an extraordinary meeting, here today, convened by Er Saleem Bandey and presided over by educationist, K K Kapoor.
The speakers strongly criticized the Legislators who are mulling to move a bill in the State Assembly seeking continuance of reservation in promotions.  They stressed that the reservations should be based on economic lines and not on caste based. They also questioned the silence of general category legislators and warned that if they fail to support this genuine struggle against reservation, they would be thrown out of power in future elections.
While targeting general category legislators, speakers said that they are playing vote bank politics and taking their support as granted. “They should learn a lesson from reserved category legislators who are fighting tooth and nail for their rights and even challenging the judiciary,” they added.

The meeting, in one voice, appealed the Government to ban reservation in promotions so that justice be provided to the deserving ones only in the best interest of the development of the country.
