Two contract workers of Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) were asphyxiated to death while cleaning a septic tank in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) quarters in Neyveli on Thursday.
The victims have been identified as Chinnadurai (41) and Thangaraj (40) of Neyveli. The incident occurred at around 8.30 a.m.
Chinnadurai and Thangaraj collapsed after inhaling poisonous gases in the tank. Other workers rescued them and rushed them to the Neyveli Government Hospital where they died. Further investigations are on. Collector S. Suresh Kumar has ordered an inquiry by Kurinjipadi Tahsildar.
