Sixteen persons, including a bride-to-be, sustained minor injuries after the bus they were travelling in rammed into a showroom at Venjaramoodu in the early hours of Thursday.

The incident occurred on MC Road around 3.30 a.m. when the driver of the bus, which transported the marriage party from Mannarkkad in Palakkad to Parassala, lost control of the vehicle. None of the passengers, including the bride-to-be, Sani, sustained serious injuries.

After being administered first aid at a private hospital nearby, most persons of the group rushed to the venue of the wedding so as to ensure that the function was held as planned.

According to the police, the driver is believed to have dozed off, following which the vehicle went off the road and rammed into the motorcycle showroom.

Three two-wheelers parked outside the showroom were damaged in the accident.
