2,000 volunteers to build 2,100 clay weirs today
Amravati: More than 2,000 volunteers of Shramik Water Group will labour for three hours to make 2,100 disjointed contour trenches (DCTs) and build stone and clay weirs in Gawhankund region of Morshi tehsil on Friday to celebrate the birthday of Union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari.
“This novel activity will help create 60 lakh litre of waterstock,” said MLA Dr Anil Bonde, who inspired the villagers of Gawhankund and adjoining villages to undertake this water conservation project on the morning of Friday.

“Besides this, the volunteers will also revive the river Kasi by undertaking its cleaning,” said Dr Bonde.
Guardian minister Pravin Pote, Wardha MP Ramdas Tadas, commissioner Dnyaneshwar Rajurkar, collector Kiran Gitte will attend the programme with BJP district office-bearers, said Bonde, adding that the 3-hour shramdan will begin at 7am.
