Woman strangles boyfriend after tiff

Nagpur: Pinky Pethe (23) strangled her boyfriend Satish Jawarkar (32) at her residence at Chankapur, Khaparkheda, on Wednesday night. She remained alone with the body for almost six hours before surrendering to the police by alerting the control room about the in the early hours of Thursday. Jawarkar, who earned a livelihood as a welder, had a criminal record with eight offences against him.Police said Jawarkar and his girlfriend Pinky, who were in a relationship for around four years, had been unhappy with each other. They used to quarrel frequently. Pinky, a school dropout, had been forcing the deceased to give up his criminal activities and lead a decent lifestyle. Their difference of opinion over Jawarkar’s criminal activities had led to their break-up.
Police said Jawarkar, an alcoholic, had been forcing Pinky to resume their relationship but Pinky had been reluctant. It’s learnt that Jawarkar had gone to Pinky’s place under the influence of alcohol on Wednesday. She was alone in the room since her mother had gone to attend duty at WCL hospital and the rest of the family members had also gone out.
Police said that initially Pinky was not keen that Jawarkar come inside her home. However, Jawarkar forced his way inside, much against the wishes of his estranged girlfriend. The two had a verbal duel, where Jawarkar threatened to kill Pinky. As the heated exchanges escalated, Jawarkar tried to throttle Pinky but her resistance took him off guard. She used a scarf to strangle Jawarkar.
Police said Pinky waited beside the body for six hours before deciding to call the cops. She alerted the police control room and confessed to the crime. The control room informed Khaparkheda police, who rushed to the spot and took the body to Mayo Hospital. Police have also arrested Pinky from her place.
