14 lakh bulbs distributed under govt scheme

CHANDIGARH: More than 14 lakh LED bulbs have been distributed under the ‘Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All’ (UJALA) since its launch by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on March 11.

More than 14 lakh LED bulbs have been distributed under the ‘Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All’ (UJALA) since its launch by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on March 11. This was stated by a spokesperson for the Power Department here today.

Apart from this, 5,754 LED bulbs were also distributed in 36 villages of the state under the ‘Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon’ scheme, he said. Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of the public sector undertakings (PSUs) under the Union Ministry of Power, was currently distributing about 50,000 LED bulbs per day in the state.

He said the scheme was being implemented in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Bhiwani, Hisar, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Sonepat, Karnal, Panipat, Rewari, Narnaul, Sirsa and Rohtak.

He said more than two crore LED bulbs would be distributed under the UJALA scheme.

Under the scheme, 9-Watt LED bulbs were available for just Rs 75 per bulb with a warranty of three years. The consumers could avail up to 10 LED bulbs under the scheme. Regular consumers could buy a maximum of four LED bulbs with an EMI option and additional LED bulbs could be purchased through an upfront payment.
