Anchor Electricals Private Limited has provided two mobile vans to the district administration for generating awareness as well as providing nutritious food to children in the district. The company has done so under its corporate social responsibility initiative.

Anchor Electricals DGM-HR Aradhna Dubey said the company had taken up several initiatives for the betterment of society. “Malnutrition in rural areas of Haridwar has been affecting children in large numbers. India accounts for world’s 22 per cent of children suffering from malnutrition, which is a major cause of concern,” Dubey said.

Appreciating the initiative of the corporate sector, District Magistrate Harbans Singh Chug said the malnutrition had emerged as a major threat to health of children, for which apart from government efforts, initiative from society was also needed.

Chief Development Officer Sonika said the mobile vans would provide protein diet, medicines to 650 malnourished children in Lakshar, Khanpur, Bahadrabad and Haridwar city.

“The vans are equipped with a doctor, nutritionist and attendant. The staff will guide parents, particularly mothers on malnutrition. We seek more corporate firms coming under the public private partnership or CSR in curbing malnutrition in the district,” said Sonika, while inspecting the mobile van at Ravli Mehdood village.
