BJP a party of 'phekus': Cong

Gorakhpur: Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his frequent foreign trips, Congress activists on Thursday took out a march with posters depicting Modi deboarding an aeroplane. They were raising slogans 'Do saal nakaam, happy Hawai Diwas'.
When the procession reached Prem Chandra Park in Betia Hata, scores of Congress workers cut a 'pheku' (bragging) cake in front of the statue of Munshi Premchand and fed it to animals.
The party members were wearing birthday caps and dancing on the tunes of a famous Bollywood song, 'Jhoot bole kauwa kate'.
They alleged that the BJP government has been unsuccessful in fulfilling its promises. "The BJP leaders are expert 'phekus' (braggers). The Prime Minister spents time in travelling and changing dress four times a day. He is least concerned with the problems faced by the common man. The rising prices of essential commodities has troubled all sections of the society," they charged.
"BJP is a party of 'phekus'. It is celebrating two years in office and we have shown them the mirror of reality," Congress district general secretary Anwar Husain said.
Congress district vice-president S S Pandey said, "We waited for Rs 15 lakh in our bank account for two years, but the money never came. I don't know when the so-called 'achche din' will come. So far, we are only seeing 'bure din' (bad days) as unemployment and soaring prices of essential commodities are hitting the people hard."
Another leader, Ashutosh Tiwari, said that the Prime Minister promised to bring 'achche din' in 100 days but there is no trace of good days even after two years of the BJP coming to power at the Centre.
