Framingham Police: Woman drunk, texting during crash

A Framingham woman was texting while she was drunk when she crashed into the Walgreens on Rte. 9 on Wednesday, police said.Police arrested Grace E. Fogarty, 36, after the 6:45 p.m. crash, the MetroWest Daily News reported. Police said Fogarty had trouble forming sentences after she crashed into a staircase on the exterior of the pharmacy's building, next to the drive-thru lane. Witnesses said Fogarty was looking down at her phone, apparently texting, at the time of the crash.Fogarty told police she was not drinking and had not had a drink in two years. However, officers found several nip bottles, as well as 24-ounce cans of beer and hard lemonade in her car, police said.Police charged Fogarty, of 13 Joseph Road, with operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor (second offense) and texting while driving.At her Framingham District Court arraignment on Thursday, Fogarty was released without bail. She is due back in court on July 27 for a pretrial conference.
