NDA Govt failed to perform on all fronts: AICC spokesperson

Panaji, May 26 (UNI) The opposition Congress today alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Allance (NDA) Government has failed to perform on all fronts. Addressing a press conference at the office of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) in the city, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedy said, ''The NDA Government, which came to power two years back, has failed to perform on all fronts. "The government came to power with the slogans like 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas', 'Abki Baar Modi Sarkar, Acche Din Aa Gaye Yar'. But even after two years we have not seen anything happening on any front. Lots of public relations-related events are happening but nothing is visible.'' She alleged that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised 10 crore jobs in his five-year tenure, but in the last two years, jobs for only 1.3 lakh people had been created. ''Youngsters are joining workforce at the rate of one crore per month but we are unable to give them jobs or any sense of direction or hope,'' she claimed. Stating that budget allocations for the projects announced by the government were less than the requirment, Ms Chaturvedi said Prime Minister's pet project Skill India required Rs 8,000 crore, but it had been allocated only Rs 1,200 crore. ''Manufacturing production is at one per cent, while we left it at 3.7 per cent. The government needs to answer how many companies have invested in infrastructure section ever since Mr Modi came to power. "Even there has been a decline in the past seven months as far as Foreign Direct Investment in manufacturing sector is concerned. Rural economy has been one of the most sufferers. Almost 3,000 farmers have died during the last two years. During the last two years, the country has been afflicted with less rainfall. Yet, there is no vision plan, which ensures that farmers are not forced to commit suicide. "Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) funds were released to the people so that they could cope with financial crunch unless Supreme Court reminded the government. "There has been talks over temple and communities but no talk about economy, creating jobs, improving GDP but there is talk of grand vision,'' she alleged. The Congress leader suggested that the government, instead of repacking old projects, should come up with some new and innovative ideas. UNI AKM SS RJ VN2251
