Aurangabad: In a sudden move, Aurangabad DM Kawal Tanuj late on Wednesday evening raided a house in Bhuiya Toli under Town police station area and seized 340 bottles of countrymade and Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
The house is barely a few metres away from the police station concerned.
Surprisingly, Tanuj did not inform the local police station.
The raid lasted for over an hour. Sources said acting on a tip-off, Tanuj reached Bhuiya Toli with SDM (sadar) Surendra Prasad and searched the house of one Shiv Bhuiya, finding 340 bottles of liquor. Of them, only 42 bottles were of IMFL and the rest were countrymade. Tanuj ordered immediate sealing of the bottles and directed to send them to a laboratory to know whether they were spurious or not.
While the house owner managed to escape, one Umesh Ram has been detained in this connection and the house sealed. Later, Tanuj called the Town police station SHO S K Suman and asked him about the recovery. Suman had no reply. Later talking to mediapersons, Tanuj said recovery of liquor from town area is a matter of serious concern.
He said a show-cause notice would be slapped on the SHO concerned.
