Limato is to stay at a mile for the time being, with Henry Candy favouring the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Top-class over six and seven furlongs last season, he began this campaign over a mile in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury where he finished fourth, beaten two and a half lengths by Belardo.

He is also entered in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at the Royal meeting but Candy is keen to have another crack at the smart milers, which could include American superstar mare Tepin.

"Like the rest of our horses, I felt he just didn't quite finish his race off in the Lockinge," said Candy.

"I think he stays a mile, though obviously that wasn't very conclusive as it was on ground he wouldn't have been in love with. At this stage we're thinking of going to the Queen Anne at Ascot with him."
