Hudson Warehouse to Present MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING in June

Hudson Warehouse celebrates its 13th Summer Season in Riverside Park with Much Ado About Nothing in June, Lysisarah: "Let's Make America Great Again!" in July, and OTHELLO in August.

The season starts off with a bang with Much Ado About Nothing, directed by Producing Artistic Director, Nicholas Martin-Smith, starring company member Roxann Kraemer as Beatrice and her husband, two-time IT Award winner Greg Horton, as Benedick.

"We were really intrigued when Roxann first approached us last fall with the idea." Susane Lee, the Producer of the summer season, explained. "It was clearly on their bucket list, but the fact is they're perfect for the roles."

"It also finally gave me the opportunity to work with Greg out on the patio. I've admired his work for years." Added Mr. Martin-Smith.

Shakespeare set his play in Messina on the island of Sicily. Mr. Martin-Smith sets his production there, but in the 1930's. "There is a 20 year period in Italy's history from 1922 to 1943 that the Princes of Italy, the Cosa Nostra, and Mussolini's fascists all co-existed together. I felt that the division between the brother's Don John and Prince Pedro could be more clearly defined by setting it in the 1930's."

He added, "This is a play about deception, conspiracy and betrayal and Don Leonato of Messina doesn't have the cleanest hands."

Resident costume designer and company member Emily Rose Parman has once again brought her eye for style and dedication to the authenticity of a period to her costume design.

Other cast members include company members, David Palmer Brown, Vince Phillip, George K. Wells, and Patrina Caruana. Hudson Warehouse alumni Paul Singleton, who played King Henry in last June's Henry 4.1, returns this summer as Prince Pedro and the comic relief is placed in the able hands of Warehouse Alumni Linus Gelber and Patrick Harman as Dogberry and Verges. Rounding out the cast is Joseph Hamel, Nathan Mattingly, James Venable, Joseph Knipper, Benjamin Farmer, Lisa LaGrande, Adrienne Joyce, Richard Vernon, and Gustavo Pace.

Much Ado About Nothing previews on June 2nd and opens on June 3rd. Performances are June 2nd - 24th, Thursdays - Sundays at 6:30pm. Please show up at The Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument on West 89th and Riverside Drive. Performances are on the north patio, behind the monument. No Tickets: Just show up by 6:15pm and grab a seat on the benches or steps of the monument. Bring food, drink. 2 hr., no intermission. Donation: "Pay What You Can" after the show.

Take the Number 1 Subway to West 86th Street, walk to Riverside Drive, walk north 3 blocks to West 89th Street. Walk into Riverside Park and at the monument, take the path that winds behind the monument to the north patio. Or Take the Express 2 or 3, or the Local 1 to West 96th Street. Walk west towards Riverside drive. At West 91st street, walk into Riverside Park, taking the path towards the Monument until you find the north patio.

Synopsis: A peace treaty is signed and the war between the Prince, Pedro and his brother Don John is over. Well deserved R and R on the estate of Don Leonato brings with it Friendship, Love, Conspiracy and Betrayal. For "Idle hands are the devil's workshop."
