Speaking on the sidelines of the institute’s annual convocation that saw 140 UG and 49 PG students graduate on Thursday amidst the presence of dignitaries like Sudhir Tripathi(IAS) Director General of NIFT and senior faculty Vandita Seth in attendance, NIFT Gandhinagar Director Arindam Das averred that while a proposal had been tendered last year, a new vision has been resubmitted.

The academic report mentioned in the convocation brochure circulated among students and parents during the convocation also mentioned that NIFT Gandhinagar has submitted a draft proposal for setting up an incubation centre to the Head office. Speaking on the same, Das said, “We have given a fresh proposal regarding the incubation center with a wider scope, wherein we would want to collaborate locally with the state government and corporates with respect to CSR(corporate social responsibility) projects. However the core aim of the incubation center at NIFT that we are visualising, will remain research and technology. Initially in the proposal submitted last year we had wanted to collaborate with a local institute , but now we want to go alone – however the cell won’t take off this year.”
